What you need to do is install the addon, click "setup" tab and set it to automatic. Then you should be able to see events for each day and register for raids.
With the addon it's possible to adjust how many slots / class is on a raid, and basically the sooner you register the more chance you have of getting on the raid. Not sure yet how this will work in practice, since it's possible to end up with a situation where the first ones to register are all dps for example, and when the addon sees a raid is full it may not let healers or tanks to register anymore.
What I might end up doing is using the confirmation system, where it's possible to manually state who have been confirmed to attend the raid. This can be also done first come first serve basis, but the difference is that then the raid leader can leave room for a specific class that is needed.
Please note, that even if you haven't been confirmed for a raid, there's still good chance that someone might be late / can't come and you have a position after all.
So, let's see for a week now how this goes! Starting on Wednesday's raid!
PS: At the moment DKP Officers and Advisors should be able to create events with the calendar. I'm expecting people with those ranks to be capable to lead raids in case there's need for it. Cheers.

The idea is good at first glance. The only problem might be that people setting the raids will always be in. Also it might hurt people who log only for raids during week days.
I hope it will work fine tho.
Cheers.

Trouble with in-game calendars is that you need to be in game to use them.
So for example; if you create a raid in the morning, those of us who can only log on in the evening will be at a disadvantage for signing up early.
We used to use phpRaid on a website so at least those who could log onto the net from work could sign up.
Also.....
Making an addon mandatory tends to cause problems. I've had trouble with addons in the past not working right. And what happens next patch when older addons may break, and GroupCalendar doesn't get updated.
Just my 2p worth.

I try to put raids already few days in advance, so you still have time to register even if you're at work in the mornings.
Only slight problem there is that in case I can't be coming...
AND I don't see why it's a problem that a raid has a leader who automatically is in... Only the event creator can modify the event; meaning that the event creator is usually the raid leader too.
I'll look into how this works on Saturday, because I'm probably unable to join at that day.
